A Comrade of ex-crime boss seeks bail before trial

ex-crimeKevin Reddington, a lawyer for the girlfriend of former reputed Boston crime boss James “Whitey” Bulger says she should be release from prison while awaiting trial. Attorney says protected him during his 16 years as a fugitive.

Bulger, the 81 year old former leader of the infamous Winter Hill Gang, is charged with involving in 19 murders and faces a possible life sentence and Greig, who is charged with induced as alien a fugitive and faces a not more than five year imprisonment. Catherine Greig attorney, Kevin Reddington, says she is not vulnerable to harm or risk to the community and will not run away if released. Greig and her twin sister are both inclined to post Massachusetts homes they own as live in relation.

Greig and Bulger were arrested last month in Santa Monica, California, after apparently spending the last 16 years on the run together.

According to Reddington prosecutors will have troublesome to prove that Bulger as a fugitive. Home confinement with electronic monitoring could be arranged to assure Greig appearance in court and the Prosecutors have said that they will put forth reason against her release.
