Though one can say that Anna Hazare has been the catalyst for a government who is usually very slow at introducing and shaping bills, it now seems that things are getting out of control. The 74 year old Gandhian was detained at his home and later arrested to prevent his fast to the death for a strong anti-corruption Lokpal bill.

The Lok Pal bill is in parliament and Anna Hazare has been campaigning for a stronger version in the form of Jan Lokpal Bill. Though both the bills have got its own drawbacks, it must be admitted that Anna Hazare’s role had been important in the history of the bill. But taking protest to another level to arm-twist the government is unconstitutional and if allowed would set precedents which would be harder to control than corruption.
