Alagiri appears before Judicial Magistrate Court in attack case

AlagiriM K Alagiri, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers and senior DMK leader, appeared before the Judicial Magistrate (JM) Court at Melur on Tuesday, in connection with an attack case and was subsequently let out on bail.

The bail was granted at Tuesday noon to Mr. Alagiri and Madurai Deputy Mayor P M Mannan, when they appeared before the Judicial Magistrate court as per the directions of Madurai Bench of Madras High Court, by Judicial Magistrate Jesima Yasmin.

Cases against Alagiri and Mannan among 50 DMK men, under sec.143 (punishment for being a member of an unlawful assembly), sec.188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), sec.332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from doing his duty) and sec.341 (punishment for wrongful restraint) of the Indian Penal Code, have registered by Madurai Rural Police for attacking M Kalimuthu, Tahsildar and Assistant Returning Officer of Melur Assembly Constituency.
